What Is Hard Water and Why Does It Matter?
Hard water occurs when groundwater dissolves minerals such as calcium and magnesium from rocks and soil before entering your home’s water supply. Over time, these minerals can create problems such as:
- White scale buildup on faucets and shower heads
- Spots and residue on dishes and glassware
- Dry skin and hair after bathing
- Reduced soap and detergent effectiveness
- Mineral deposits inside pipes, water heaters, and appliances

Advanced Ion Exchange Softening Technology
This system uses a proven process called ion exchange to remove hardness minerals from water. Inside the system is a mineral tank filled with specialized resin beads. These beads are saturated with sodium or potassium ions and naturally attract calcium and magnesium minerals in the water. As hard water passes through the resin bed:
1. Calcium and magnesium ions attach to the resin beads
2. Sodium or potassium ions are released into the water
3. The result is softened water that flows throughout your home
When the resin beads become saturated with minerals, the system automatically regenerates using a brine solution to restore its softening capacity.
Multi-Stage Water Conditioning
Stage 1 – Sediment Pre-Filtration
Water first passes through a 20-inch sediment filter that removes sand, rust, dirt, and other particles before treatment.
Stage 2 – Ion Exchange Softening
The water then enters the mineral tank where calcium and magnesium ions are removed through the ion exchange process, effectively softening the water.
Stage 3 – Carbon Post Filtration
A carbon block filter helps remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pesticides, and other contaminants while improving water taste and clarity.Â

CRYSTAL QUEST® warrants your CRYSTAL QUEST® Water Filter Systems for one year from the date of purchase (except filter cartridges and UV bulbs ) against all defects in materials and workmanship, when used in compliance with the Use and Care Manual. CRYSTAL QUEST® disclaims all implied warranties, including without limitation, warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. If for any reason the product proves to be defective within one year from the date of purchase the customer would be responsible for all shipping charges and the unit should be shipped to CRYSTAL QUEST®. The entire system will be repaired or replaced without charge for the repairs or replacement. Please package your CRYSTAL QUEST® unit carefully to avoid damage in transit. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other legal rights which vary from state to state. CRYSTAL QUEST® assumes no responsibility for incidental or consequential damages; for damages arising out of the misuse of the product or the use of any unauthorized attachment. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of implied warranties or incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusion may not apply to you.
