Water Quality Guidelines

To ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your Echo RO™ system, it is important to monitor your incoming water quality.

Water Hardness

For best results, maintain water hardness levels below:

  • 7 grains per gallon (GPG), or
  • 120 parts per million (ppm)

Excessive hardness can reduce the efficiency of the RO membrane over time.

💡Tip: Using a water softener before your RO system can significantly extend the life of the RO membrane and improve overall performance.

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) is a key indicator of your system’s performance. TDS measures the concentration of dissolved substances in your water, including minerals, salts, and metals.

  • A properly functioning RO system will significantly reduce TDS levels.
  • Even if your incoming water is hard, the system is working correctly as long as the filtered water TDS remains within an acceptable range.
Note: Regularly testing your water’s TDS levels can help you determine when maintenance or filter replacement is needed.

1. Echo RO Has No Water Flow

Scenario 1: Water pump works but no water is dispensing

  • The RO membrane may be blocked. Try replacing the RO filter.

Scenario 2: Water pump isn’t working and no water is dispensing

  • Check your source water pressure—it may be too low.

  • Make sure the RO is plugged in.

  • Test the outlet by plugging in a different appliance.

  • Check the power adapter light to ensure it’s working.

2. Echo RO Has Sporadic or Fluctuating Water Flow

If your water flow is irregular, try the following steps:

  1. Check the angle stop valve – Ensure the Cold Water Inlet valve is completely open.

  2. Check source water pressure – It should be between 40–80 psi. Low pressure can cause flow fluctuations.

  3. Inspect hoses – Remove any kinks or bends in the tubing.

  4. Check filters – A partially blocked RO membrane or saturated filters can slow or stop water flow.

Filter Maintenance

  • Filter #1 (PP – Sediment Filter): Captures larger particles. Replace if clogged.

  • Filter #2 (CTO – Carbon Block Filter): May restrict flow when saturated. Replace if needed.

  • RO Membrane: If water flow has slowed or become irregular, consider replacing the membrane. A new membrane restores the normal flow of 1.2 L/min.

Tip: After changing filters, ensure all filters are seated correctly. Remove and reinsert if necessary.

3. Tube Connections and Air Bubbles

If your TDS readings seem high or flow is irregular, air may be trapped in the tubing. To fix:

  1. Turn off the valve.

  2. Unplug the tube from the angle stop valve.

  3. Cut ¼ inch off the end of the tube using a razor blade (no scissors).

  4. Reconnect the tube to ensure a proper seal.

  5. Repeat for the tube connected to the RO system.

  6. Turn the valve back on fully.

4. Echo RO Connected to the Echo Flow Unit

  • The water flow should be slightly choppy, not smooth.

  • Ensure the pump for the Flow Unit is turned on.

    • If the switch on the back of the Flow Unit is turned off, the RO won't function properly.

  • Once it's activated, this should resolve the issue you're experiencing with your RO system.

If the issue persists:

  • Bypass the Flow Unit and connect the RO directly to the faucet.

  • This helps determine whether the issue is with the Flow Unit or the RO system.

5. RO Stops Dispensing Water and Shows an Alert

  • If all icons flash and the RO beeps 30 times, there may be a water leak.

  • Check all connections and ensure the cold water valve is open.

6. Echo RO Has Continuous Water Flow

  • If water runs constantly during downtime, please contact support by uploading a video
