Commercial nitrate water treatment

High capacity nitrate filtration from 15 to 390 GPM

The Crystal Quest commercial nitrate removal system uses nitrate selective ion exchange treatment for facilities with confirmed nitrate in well water or groundwater. Choose the service flow, connection size, and control configuration that match the building, water analysis, and operating demand.

Benefits for commercial nitrate treatment

Targeted nitrate reduction

Nitrate selective ion exchange media is designed for nitrate treatment, including water where moderate to high sulfate concentrations are present.

Commercial flow capacity

Nine system sizes cover published continuous service flows from 15 to 390 GPM, with peak flow ratings from 22 to 450 GPM.

Regenerating treatment system

The system uses a brine tank and regeneration process to restore the nitrate removal media for continued operation.

Flexible control choices

Automatic configurations reduce routine operator involvement. Select models from 15 to 75 GPM are also offered with manual upflow or manual downflow controls.

Water testing is essential: nitrate is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. Size and configure the system using a current laboratory water analysis, the required continuous flow, and the installation conditions.

  • Restaurants, food service operations, and beverage facilities
  • Schools, campuses, offices, and institutional properties
  • Agricultural and rural operations with confirmed nitrate
  • Industrial and process water applications
  • Projects planned around laboratory testing and commercial flow demand

Choose the correct flow and control type

Use continuous service flow as the primary sizing value. Peak flow is the published short duration maximum and should not replace the service flow rating. Automatic and manual configurations are not available at every capacity.

Automatic control

Automatic models manage the regeneration and backwash sequence with an electric control valve. The valve and connection supplied depend on the selected model and configuration.

Manual downflow with backwash

Available for 15 to 75 GPM models. The operator initiates and manages the backwash and regeneration process.

Manual upflow

Available for 15 to 75 GPM models. This non electric configuration requires the operator to manage the regeneration process.

Manual control head sizing reference

The installation guide sizes the control head by treatment tank volume. This reference is separate from the selectable product connection shown above.

Tank volume Head in installation guide Line size Drain size Brine tubing
3 ft³ 2510 1 inch 0.5 inch 0.375 inch
4 ft³ 2850 1.5 inches 1.25 inches 0.375 inch
7 ft³ 2850 1.5 inches 1.25 inches 0.375 inch
10 ft³ 2850 1.5 inches 1.25 inches 0.375 inch
15 ft³ 2900 2 inches 1 inch 0.375 inch
20 ft³ 3900 3 inches 2 inches 1 inch
30 ft³ 3900 3 inches 2 inches 1 inch
40 ft³ 3900 3 inches 2 inches 1 inch

The general installation guide ends at 40 ft³. The 390 GPM model is larger, so its model specific control components and installation requirements should be taken from the equipment supplied with that configuration.

Installation planning

Professional installation required

Installation must account for the selected connection size, operating pressure, drain capacity, electrical supply for automatic models, equipment clearance, brine tank placement, and safe access for future service.

Plan for regeneration and drainage

Provide an appropriate drain for the published backwash rate. The brine tank also requires correctly sized tubing, overflow drainage, and enough service access for salt filling and maintenance.

The general installation guide lists an operating range of 35 to 65 PSI, while the nitrate product table lists 35 to 60 PSI. Use the narrower 35 to 60 PSI product range when planning this system.

Manuals and technical documents

Frequently asked questions

How should the system be sized?

Use a current laboratory water analysis and the required continuous service flow. Also account for sulfate, available pressure, product connection, backwash drainage, brine tank placement, and installation clearance.

Does every flow rate offer automatic and manual controls?

No. Models from 15 to 75 GPM offer automatic, manual upflow, and manual downflow with backwash options. The 185 GPM model is automatic with a 2 inch or 3 inch connection. The 200, 245, and 390 GPM models are automatic.

Why does this system include a brine tank?

The nitrate selective ion exchange media is regenerated with brine. The brine tank supports that regeneration process and requires routine salt replenishment.

Is professional installation required?

Yes. A qualified installer should plan the plumbing, drain, pressure, electrical supply where applicable, equipment clearance, startup, and service access for the selected configuration.
