Airpura T600DLX air purifier for heavy tobacco smoke, tar, chemicals, and odors
The Airpura T600DLX is a heavy-duty, floor-standing air purifier built for rooms affected by tobacco or cannabis smoke, tar, gaseous pollutants, and persistent smoke odors. Its specialized TarBarrier prefilter protects an extra-deep 26 lb activated-carbon bed, while a HEPA Barrier provides supplementary particle filtration.
A strong fit for: apartments receiving smoke from neighboring units, homes with indoor smokers, designated smoking rooms, hospitality settings, waiting areas, cigar rooms, and spaces affected by recurring smoke odors.
Why choose this model
Choose the T600DLX for recurring tobacco or cannabis smoke, sticky tar residue, chemicals and persistent smoke odors in the 600 Series platform. The T700DLX uses the same specialized TarBarrier approach with higher airflow for larger spaces, while the V600 is intended for VOC and wildfire smoke concerns without a TarBarrier.
What this air purifier is used for
The T600DLX focuses on smoke-related tars, gases, chemicals, and odors. The TarBarrier catches sticky tar particles before they reach the carbon filter, while the 26 lb carbon bed provides substantial contact area for odor and gas adsorption. The purifier supports indoor air-quality management but does not make smoking safe or replace ventilation, source control, smoke alarms, or fire-safety practices.
Where to place it
Place the purifier upright on the floor in the room where smoke enters or accumulates. Keep the lower intake and 360-degree outlet clear. For gas and odor adsorption, Airpura recommends operating the unit at low-to-medium speed when practical to increase contact time with the carbon media. Disconnect power before cleaning or filter service.
How the filtration system works
1. TarBarrier prefilter Captures sticky tar and larger smoke residue before it reaches the main media.
2. Deep carbon bed 26 lb of coconut-shell activated carbon adsorbs many smoke-related gases, chemicals, and odors.
3. HEPA Barrier Captures 95% of airborne particles measuring 1 micron or larger.

Getting started and everyday use
Inspect the exterior for shipping damage and wipe away packaging dust with a damp cloth.
Keep the control switched off while plugging into a grounded outlet matching the voltage on your unit’s label.
Switch on and run at maximum for at least 30 minutes, then choose the operating speed.
For regular air quality maintenance, use continuous operation at a low speed. Adjust the speed as conditions require.
Keep indoor relative humidity at 40% or less to support carbon performance. When using a dehumidifier, keep it at least 6 feet from the purifier.
Cleaning and filter replacement
Switch off and unplug before cleaning. Use your vacuum’s brush attachment to clean the prefilter through the outside grille, moving slowly around the mesh surface. Clean monthly or more often when needed.
Replacing the carbon and particle filters
Switch off and unplug the purifier. Support the unit securely while turning it over to access the base.
Remove the four retaining screws, lift off the bottom cover and set aside the upper felt gasket. Keep the screws and gaskets for reassembly.
Remove the filters being replaced, noting the positions of the remaining filters and gaskets.
Place the lower felt gasket flat at the bottom of the chamber and position the outer prefilter or TarBarrier against the chamber wall.
Roll the filter slider into a spiral, insert it inside the outer filter and open its top into a slight funnel.
Hold the correct carbon canister straight and lower it through the slider. Lift the slider out with both hands, allowing the canister to settle at the bottom. Remove and retain the slider.
Insert the correct True HEPA or HEPA Barrier assembly inside the carbon canister. Retain any fitted particle wrap and its securing bands in their original positions.
Replace the upper felt gasket. Align the indentation in the bottom cover with the center of the particle filter, refit the cover and tighten all four screws.
Return the purifier upright. Reconnect power only after the filter chamber is closed, with the control switched off before plugging in.
